Divaneh, 2018
All of the works in this collection are mixed media on mostly 12”x16” wood panel or canvas, using wall paper patterns as a background or the “div” body art. Divaneh means crazy in Farsi. It also refers to dives the ancient gods of Indo-Iranian culture who have been banned and later demonized by the religious institutions. In my show, I usually portrait two of these divs: Pari Div Jahi, a female sexual creature, and Varun, a male homosexual one.
